Case Study: Transforming Early Childhood Education with EdTech Custom Software

About the Project

The Early Learning Network focuses on improving academic success for children, particularly from marginalized groups. Their project aimed to enhance early childhood education by developing affordable, user-friendly tools for assessing instruction, interactions, and environments. By identifying key factors in early learning and achievement, educators are supported in delivering personalized, effective instruction using the custom EdTech software built by Outcome Engine's team. Our collaboration with the University of California included developing the Optimizing Learning Opportunities for Students (OLOS) system and integrating the Concepts and Applied Skills Assessment (CASA) to provide dynamic insights for educators, helping them better meet students' needs.

About Concepts and Applied Skills Assessment (CASA)

CASA is an innovative tool designed to explore the feasibility of personalizing mathematics instruction for K-5 students. We collaborated closely with researchers to develop adaptive testing algorithms based on extensive psychometric research.

The Challenge

1. Algorithm Development:

Crafting accurate algorithms for adaptive test progression and scoring that adjust to each student's performance.

2. Research Adaptability:

Supporting ongoing research and adjustments to assessment strategies as new insights emerge.
